There have been two more attacks against Indians in Melbourne. While a student from Hyderabad was mugged, an Indian taxi driver was attacked by passengers.
Earlier, a 20-year-old youth from Hyderabad was badly punched on the face.

Even in India, there are cases of what some may call racial bias. In fact, there is a debate on whether discrimination on the basis of caste is the same as racial discrimination.

The Australian media has put this issue under the carpet with minimal reporting of the issue. Indian media has published this issue that has prompted the Australian Government to take note. More than 1400 reported cases of attack on Indian students has been filed last year.
Number of cases could be 3 times more as Indian students claim they have not been reporting it to Police.

Racism is not a foreign concept in Australia if you look at the history. Even into 1970s racism was practiced. Remember “stolen generations”?

Would the media please report on all the Australian tourists murdered and so called missing in India? I cannot get the figures on Aussies but I do know the stats for Brits - 58 per year. That is just Brits. No reason for most deaths because Indian authorities conceal the deaths. i speak from experience - it happened to my husband. I reckon that India needs to explain first of all. I would like India to back track in history and explain every unexplained death. Even the media will not tell this truth. But that is okay - everything and everyone has to come unstuck eventually - my kids are in pain every day due to f**cked up Indian police and doctors.

Thats a good counterpoint Anthia -Sorry to hear about your husband, I hope you can get answers to what happened. yes some countries have problems with safety issues as well and australia is just having this problem that we need to fix but like Anthia says that people expect to be safe in other countries, countries around the world too and not just here australia.
Anthia have you tried contacting today tonight or a current affair, my sister was ripped off by a shonky travel agent and they aired her story...which made him pay her back, maybe if the authorities arnt helpful sometimes the media can help investigate to get some advocacy on your behalf. good luck with it anyhow!

I have contacted everyone in the media here and in India but they do not care. The media report on trivial stuff not real stuff that is really happening. The government control the media and do not allow anything this out of control to be viewed on air - are you kidding????
I would like to steer people to this new group that started about Aussies killed in India and concealed by police in India. http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=220358415017 I heard one family member of a murdered Brit man say that the police like to prey on foreigners in India. It turns them on to have power over them and kill them. At least the cops in Australia are fairly straight forward with you. Cops in India are on bhang or whiskey and out of it. They are the filthiest of filthy. As I said the Indian government owe australians like me in my position a lot.

Hi Anthia i read the link you posted, im so saddened and appalled by what is happening, my god its bloody scary and evil, you are right about media non interest, i never heard nothing about such crimes and murders, i totally respect what your doing to get the message out as its so important and now that i know about it.
Im worried about my brother who travels the world constantly as hes a very carefree character, i travelled with him to thailand but after reading these stories, i must tell him of the danger.
It certainly puts perspective on the treatment of foriegners in India with bloody murders such as these, by exploitative predators, in the police and authorities.I feel quite angry at the lack of Australian government advocacy of our citizens behalf to investigate such horrible crimes suffered by people, its sickening to think about. All the best Anthia and its an important message for people travelling overseas, which i will pass on.
